Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's mystery of the missing cheque as charity banned from moving money

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought an end to their positive Nigeria trip, they were once again met with controversy and a potential swarm of negativity.

The pair wrapped up their eventful African tour by gushing they will most certainly be back after they were snapped beaming with joy at a number of high-profile events, including a polo match. However, as they brought the curtain down on the trip, news was breaking through that their Archewell charity had been labelled “delinquent” and banned from moving money in the US.

Archewell is temporarily banned from carrying out activities that require registration following the news. This includes collecting charitable funds and/or distributing them. California’s attorney general, Rob Bonta, shared a scathing letter which said: “An organisation that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds. The organisation may also be subject to penalties, and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”
Archewell must now present documents explaining the late payment and pay the late fees. However, sources close to Harry and Meghan have thrown the situation into doubt after claiming payments must have simply been lost. They revealed they are hopeful the situation will soon be resolved.

In a statement to the Mirror, sources close to the Sussexes said: “For whatever reason, it has not been cashed. As soon as the foundation learnt of the problem, they immediately issued another cheque. Harry and Meghan’s team hope this will quickly resolve the issue within the next week.”

Archewell was founded by the Sussexes in 2020. It came after the pair stepped away from their duties as senior working royals. It’s made up of a non-profit organisation as well as for-profit media ventures including Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
